In the 2018 Latin Issue of Billboard magazine, Shakira discussed the challenges she faced on her journey to success. Despite being 41 years old, the artist revealed that her path was more challenging due to various obstacles she encountered along the way. According to her, it was longer and steeper compared to those who were born and raised in Florida or New York City.
Shakira expressed that it was quite a challenge to kick off her music career in Barranquilla, a city where the pop music scene was almost non-existent in Colombia.
