The rescue center celebrated Perry’s fourth birthday with a delightful garden party, and everyone loved the adorable lurcher.
The story of Perry’s life has been an unconventional one. For the past year and a half, he has called Battersea’s Old Windsor center his home. This duration is almost 15 times longer than the average stay for dogs at the center, which is just over a month. In an effort to cheer him up and make his birthday extra special, the devoted staff organized a delightful party for him, complete with presents, toys, and decorations. However, Perry’s ultimate desire is to find a permanent family to call his own, making it his one true birthday wish.
The staff at Battersea believe that Perry’s extended stay is due to his tendency to become overly excited around people. However, he has made significant strides since entering foster care and has proven to be an affectionate and playful companion. Perry loves spending time with his favorite humans and enjoys receiving gentle attention and ear scratches.
Despite the length of his stay, Perry remains cheerful and brightens everyone’s day with his playful behavior and sweet nature. Rosie Beauvais, a Battersea Rehoming and Welfare Assistant, and Perry’s foster carer, shared, “Perry is an absolute joy to be around and always manages to put a smile on my face with his silly personality. He is a playful boy who loves spending his time playing games with his vast collection of toys. After a long day of fun and games, he happily retreats to his favorite cozy spot for a nap.”
Perry has a strong affection for nature and finds pleasure in indulging himself in outdoor activities. He spends a great deal of his time in the garden, where he dashes around at high speed during his playtime. Rosie further commented that Perry’s personality is vibrant, and he would undoubtedly be an exceptional asset to a suitable household.
Although lurchers are often known for their laid-back demeanor, Perry is a pup who craves adventure and exercise. He’s on the lookout for an active family with experience caring for sighthounds who can take him on exhilarating walks and engage in playtime to help him burn off his energy.
